Heather and I had a great time in Chicago last weekend. I played a show on Friday with Hello Dave at the Vic Theater on Sheffield Ave. It's a beautiful 1300 seat venue that the band has played several times. The event was the James Foley Scholarship Fundraiser. James was the journalist killed earlier this year by the ISIS terrorists. We had a great turnout and raised almost $30,000!

Saturday our only plans were to walk around the city and later that night go to a blues bar. We started in the Lakeview/Lincoln Park area and found several clothing, book and record shops that were unique and like a step back in time.

We rode the Red line down to Michigan Ave. thinking maybe the Christmas lights would be up -- it is after Halloween you know. Didn't see any but enjoyed the walk. The weather was in the chilly upper 40's with a breeze coming off the lake. If you had layers it was fine.

The plan was to walk down Michigan from Grand to South Wabash (about 1.5 miles) and have dinner at Buddy Guy's Legends blues club. We got there just in time to watch blues man Linsey Alexander perform while we ate. We thought he was good at singing and playing guitar, but at working the tourists for tips and CD sales, he was a virtuoso!

Next we rode the Red line up to Halstead to finish the night at Kingston Mines blues bar. They have 2 stages with bands alternating sets. We saw a a great female singer/badass guitar player by the name of Joanna Conner. She's worth checking out!

That's it for now. Hope to see you this weekend.
