Heather and Marty have had a lot of fun this last week and a half:
We left for Colorado on Thursday, Aug. 27th and spent the night in Salina Kansas. Friday we drove to Carbondale CO. where we checked into a hotel. Saturday (after Heather ran 10 miles for marathon training) we played a show in Basalt with my Hello Dave bandmate Magoo. It was a combo 50th birthday/25th anniversary party for some friends. The Chris Daniels Band played after us. I was really impressed. Especially with their guitar player "Bones"! Sunday we did some hiking in the Glenwood Canyon and spent the night in Frisco. Monday we explored the towns of Frisco and Breckenridge and checked into a hotel in Dillon. Tuesday our plan was to do more hiking near Evergreen but the weather didn't cooperate; rain turned into a massive hail storm turning the ground completely white! We stopped in at the Little Bear Saloon, a cool venue I've played many times when Hello Dave toured the area. After an amazing drive thru Bear Creek Canyon we wound up in downtown Denver on Tuesday evening where we found a hotel. Wednesday (after Heather ran 6 more miles) we played a show at Jagged Edge Brewery in Denver. Had a nice time visiting with Marty's cousins that came to the show who he hadn't seen in a few decades. Afterwords we went to see a local bluegrass band called Chain Station at the Appaloosa Grill. They're friends of ours we met at the Moccasin Creek Festival back in June. Thursday was time to head back to Effingham, and reality. We drove straight thru from Denver and arrived home around 1:30 a.m.(?) on the 29th.
Friday was a day off at home but Saturday was back to work: we drove to Naperville Il. just west of Chicago to play a house party with another Hello Dave bandmate Mike Himebaugh. We had a great time playing classic Hello Dave songs along with some of Mike's newer material. We also got to play a few of our songs which was nice. Our party host reserved a room for us at the nearby Hyatt House. It was a super nice, like a small apartment.
Sunday we left Naperville and arrived back in Effingham just in time to play a wedding reception at Tuscan Hills Winery. After that Marty went home and crashed -- and Heather ran 16 more miles. Whew!
